Royal Lowell
1926-1983
Royal Lowell was the oldest of Riley and Willa's seven children. He is also the most well-known boatbuilder of the family. He is the author of the book "Boatbuilding Down East: How to Build the Maine Lobsterboat" (now in its fourth printing).
Royal worked primarily in the design arena. He designed many wooden boats that were built by his brother Carroll at Even Keel Marine Specialties, Inc. He also designed many hulls for fiberglass production. Click here for more information about those hulls.
